Rob Phillips founded Kansas
City PC Professional with conviction that people want and should to be
informed and knowledgeable about a tool that has become a integral part of
their lives - the PC. Rob holds a BS in Psychology and a MS in
Computer Science from Kansas State University. As Graduate Teaching
Assistant at KSU, he instructed introductory and advanced computer courses
which included evening adult education courses. He is also a
Meyers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) Professional. MBTI is an instrument used
to measure the dominant way an individual gathers information and how an
individual uses that information to make judgments or decisions.
Rob was introduced to PCs in 1983 as a defense
contractor working on the Maneuver Control System (MCS) for the US Army.
For the next 20 years, he has developed PC software for various industries
such as aerospace, mapping, telephony and construction. Rob was also
co-founder and president of Paradigm Digital Research, Inc (PDR). PDR
developed OmniMap, one of the first CD-based mapping systems for PCs in the
early 1990s.
Most recently, Rob has spent the last 3 years traveling
nationwide training engineers on the use of estimating software that he
co-developed. During this time he realized that some of the brightest
people were lacking in basic computer skills for various reasons: busy
raising kids, keeping current with their chosen industry, and just plain
trying to make a living. Most people then felt that the computer
revolution had passed them by and it was too late, because there was so much
to learn. Rob learned that by giving people a basic understanding of
the computer, they were then able to explore and discover on their own.
